At CI&T, we are looking for a Senior Python Developer / Data Engineer to join a strategic initiative focused on modernizing and evolving our forecasting and data processing platforms.
This role is ideal for a professional who is highly skilled in Python development, passionate about code quality, refactoring, performance optimization, and software engineering best practices, while also bringing good knowledge of Data Engineering concepts and production data pipelines.
The main challenge is not building a system from scratch, but improving, restructuring, and scaling an existing production codebase, ensuring maintainability, reliability, observability, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities

Refactor and simplify existing Python production codebases to improve readability, maintainability, and performance.

Improve project architecture by organizing reusable logic into modular, testable Python packages and services.

Eliminate duplicated, fragile, or unnecessary code and apply clean code principles.

Implement and maintain unit, integration, and regression tests.

Enhance configuration management by replacing hard-coded values with scalable abstractions.

Improve observability and monitoring of data pipelines and forecasting processes through logging, metrics, alerting, and diagnostics.

Automate repetitive development and deployment tasks where appropriate.

Produce clear technical documentation for code, architecture, operational processes, and business rules.

Collaborate closely with engineering teams to evolve the platform without disrupting ongoing feature delivery.

Recommend pragmatic technical improvements that increase stability, scalability, and engineering efficiency.
Required Qualifications

Advanced / Fluent English (C1 or higher) , mandatory.

Strong experience with Python and solid Software Engineering fundamentals.

Proven experience refactoring and modernizing existing production systems.

Experience designing maintainable, modular, and reusable Python applications.

Strong knowledge of automated testing (unit, integration, and regression testing).

Experience debugging and troubleshooting complex production workflows.

Solid understanding of Git workflows, code reviews, and collaborative development practices.

Ability to work independently in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.

Good understanding of Data Engineering concepts, including data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data quality, and scalable data processing workflows.
Nice to Have

Experience with production data pipelines or forecasting systems.

Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, or similar modern data platforms.

Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar.

Knowledge of Azure cloud services.

Experience migrating notebook-based workflows into production-grade Python applications.

Familiarity with data quality validation, monitoring, and observability practices for analytical or forecasting systems.
